Speech & Prize Giving Presentations 2020

Dream, Discover, Destiny

The Annual Speech & Prize-Giving Day is an event for us to celebrate the achievements of our Changkateers together with their families. This year, in consideration of the safe management measures that need to be put in place due to the COVID-19 crisis, we have taken a different approach to celebrating the event.

The theme this year ‘Dream, Discover, Destiny’ is especially pertinent in this current crisis. Learning is a lifelong pursuit and no matter the challenges and changes we have to adapt to, Changkateers must continue to learn, reflect and grow so that they can pursue their dreams, discover boundless possibilities and embrace their destiny to play a critical role as active contributors in society. We encourage our Changkateers to appreciate how they are the masters of their own destiny and have the confidence to develop as individuals imbued with a strong moral compass, as well as equipped with 21st century skills and dispositions to see through this crisis and thrive in the future.

Thank you for joining us in the presentations as we celebrate the continued growth and achievements of our Changkateers!

LCS Ji Yang Education Award
One would have thought going into secondary school means loads of school-work but looking back, I realised that it was more than that. The school engaged us in various activities and programmes. Through Values-In-Action and Leadership Camps, I had the opportunity to give back to society. Such opportunities were insightful as it helped me see different perspectives and understand the people we assisted. I also found classroom activities useful as it shaped me to become responsible towards my studies. I became driven to achieve better results and am grateful to receive this award. Thank you CCSS for the experience!

I am Neo Yu Hao and I am currently studying Infocomm Technology at ITE East. I would like to express my gratitude towards the school, teachers and friends who have positively impacted me by giving me room to grow and by helping me academically. This had led me to succeed in the national examination and thus attain the LCS Ji Yang Education Award. I do miss Changkat but I am glad that I get to further my education and discover new opportunities. All the best in achieving your goals, Changkateers. Thank you!Yu Hao.jpgNeo Yu Hao

I am Zhi Wei and I am currently studying Business Services at ITE East.

I would like to thank the school for preparing me for the national examinations as I had performed well for it. I would especially like to thank my form and subject teachers for helping me in my journey throughout the four years in CCSS. The school does provide opportunities for one to succeed and it can only be realised if we take the step in embracing them. To all Changkateers, waste not your time in school and enjoy the rest of your secondary school life!

“Learn as much as you can while you are young, since life becomes too busy later.”
 – Dana Stewart Scott

I realised this as soon as I graduated from Changkat. To my juniors, my advice to you is: enjoy secondary school life as much as you can! One thing for sure, I will always treasure the friendships forged, the memories shared and the teachers who not only helped me in so many ways beyond the academics. If you ask me, “What’s special about Changkat?” It’s the Changkat family whom I will always remember for a very long time!

Changkat Changi Secondary School provides the most conducive environment for students to study. It is very intriguing how Changkat allows us to excel in our own unique ways. The school has impacted me in a way that made me so motivated to come to school every single day! In Changkat, I met many amazing friends who have provided me with immense support in my studies as well as in my personal life. Looking back now, I am so thankful that I was posted to Changkat Changi. If not, I would not be where I am right now.

I would like to take this opportunity to first and foremost, thank my wonderful teachers. Aside from imparting in me beneficial knowledge, they have instilled in me with the right values, thus making me the future-ready person I am today. All of them are truly inspiring and I really look up to them. Next, I would also like to thank the school for giving me this award. Receiving this award has motivated me to continue to pursue my dreams and strive to be a better individual. Thank you, CCSS!Nur Umaitulaliyah.jpgNur Umaitulaliyah Binte M A

Joining Changkat Changi Secondary School is one of the decisions that I would not regret. Being introverted, I would hesitate to approach my teachers for clarification but I slowly stepped out from my comfort zone due to leadership camps and workshops. I am grateful for the consultations with my teachers during the exam periods as that has made me to who I am today. Changkat Changi Secondary School has helped me to be more open to people and take the lead whenever there is a project in my current school. This school has moulded me into a better person, equipped with stronger leadership skills.

Changkat Changi Secondary School has assisted me throughout my secondary school life. Every staff in the school was willing to help. From form teachers, to counsellors. Even the teachers who have never taught me a subject would help if possible. All the support from the teachers and staff is what brought me here today. To be honest, I do not think that I would have made it this far without their support. It is through the school that I have managed to be where I am now. I want to thank everyone who has helped me in my journey.Abdul Syukur.jpgABDUL SYUKUR B SUBUKI

Before being a student of CCSS, I was not motivated to study. Moreover, due to my health condition, I fell sick often and had missed out on classes. There were also others who would say that I would be a failure. However, after much encouragement from my family members, friends and teachers in CCSS, namely Ms Koon, Ms Namira, Mr Thng and Mrs Kor, I was determined to achieve better results. I would approach my teachers for help and as a result, I managed to achieve good grades for the national examination. Thank you Changkat Changi!

I would like to thank my Teachers who have been guiding me for the past 1.5 years. They have taught me a lot and helped me to grow as a person, and were always very supportive and understanding. I’m also thankful for the school which helped me develop the R3ICH values.Shu Ling.jpgLEONG SHU LING, MEGAN

Changkat Changi Secondary School has influenced me in terms of character and values. Throughout my experience, I have learned that it is okay not to be perfect. Many mistakes were made along my journey and I realised that it is alright to make errors, but it is my responsibility to grow from them. My teachers and peers have helped me understand that the end goal is not just to be a good student, but a good person. Hence, I owe it to everyone in my life who have assisted me in achieving this scholarship to continue striving for greatness.

During my 3 years here in Changkat, my confidence and personality has definitely grown substantially. In the past, I was very hesitant and introverted due to the lack of confidence. However, I was given ample opportunities to speak up and get out of my comfort zone in Student Council, my CCA, NCC Air Girls and even in the classroom. I believe all these helped nurture me into who I am today. I have grown immensely thanks to my school!Jie Yu.jpgTAN JIE YU

SOAR ALP SCHOLARSHIP

Over the years Changkat has allowed me to grow as an individual. Opportunities such as going for the overseas ALP trip, participation in InterSchool Finals of the NCC FSD Competition and finally the chance to Represent SINGAPORE  in the NICEE global completion in the US affirmed my decision to choose Changkat Changi Sec as my choice school. All of these would not be possible without the support & encouragement of our School Principal, Vice- Principals, teachers, staff, my classmates and above all my family. I am extremely grateful and honoured to receive this scholarship!

I never knew that aerospace and aviation was my interest until I discovered it here in Changkat Changi secondary school. The ALP programmes when I first entered school as a secondary 1 student introduced me to the world of aerospace and aviation. From the dynamics of flight to drone programming, these meaningful activities engaged and sparked an interest in me for aviation. I am thankful that the school has given me opportunities to develop my passion in the numerous competitions and hands-on activities outside of school. This has allowed me to further strengthen my interest in aerospace and aviation. I hope to achieve my aspirations of becoming an aeronautical engineer in the future!Sasikumar.pngSASIKUMAR KATHIRVEL

SOAR ALP SCHOLARSHIP

I am very thankful for being awarded the SOAR ALP Scholarship. I would like to thank Ms Sharma, Mr Neo, Mr Ng, Mr Han and my ALP teacher Mr Patrick Ang for providing the opportunity to deepen my passion and interest in Aerospace Engineering. The school has given me a lot of opportunities to learn and understand the things in Aviation such as the Bernoulli’s Principle, Principles of Flying. Through the ALP lessons, it has broadened my perspective in Aviation and Aerospace Engineering. I will continue to work hard and strive towards my goal to be an Aerospace Engineer.
